The Hummingbird Moth

The first time I saw one of these alien-looking creatures, was about seven years ago. I thought it was a Hummingbird…a Hummingbird with something that wasn’t quite right, but I couldn’t figure out what that was. Somehow I came upon information about an insect called a Hummingbird Moth or a Hawk Moth. I never saw it again until this summer.

I was so glad that it visited my container garden several times this summer. I had hoped to get a picture of it, but it was pretty small and my digital camera is not one of those fancy ones. When I downloaded the pictures onto my computer, I had to keep magnifying the picture and looking carefully for the moth. Here are some of my pictures.
